Inverness city centre is set to be hit with another blow as the Filling Station in Academy Street will close its doors this October.

After being part of the Inverness business community for many years, the American restaurant and bar is set to wave goodbye customers on October 21.

The restaurant was well known for its 'amazing ribs, burgers and value for money', in addition to its warm ambience.

After thousands of Tripadvisor reviews, the company managed to rank 32 out of almost 200 restaurants in Inverness and will be sorely missed.

Lynne, from Canada, recently visited the restaurant and said: "It's a good place to eat at any time of the day. The food and the service was fast and delicious. I liked the fact that it was opened morning and night, it was our go to place and we were very much satisfied. Loved James , Annie and Amy our waiters. They were so friendly and helpful."

Another happy customer said: "After walking all over Inverness looking for a family friendly pub at a reasonable price we stumbled upon the Filling Station. A table was available straight away, our order was taken quickly and we didn’t have to wait long for food to arrive.

" We really enjoyed the beef and haggis burger."

It is currently unclear why the business is closing.

It's the latest setback for the city centre after it emerged yesterday that Clarks will close at the end of this month.
