Two new directors have been appointed at the Inverness branch of Scotland’s largest independent accountancy and business advisory firm, Johnston Carmichael.

Allison Dalton, who joined the firm in 2006 and has been based in Inverness since 2015, becomes a director within the firm’s audit team. She already manages a portfolio of owner-managed businesses across a variety of sectors, with a particular focus on the construction industry.

Her audit practice colleague and fellow new director, Martin Bannerman, joined Johnston Carmichael in 2007 and provides audit and accounting services to clients across various industry sectors. He leads statutory audit engagements as well as specialising in grant claim certifications where he sits as an accredited first level controller for European funded assignments.

They join six other colleagues being promoted across Scotland in the latest round of promotions within the firm.

It follows Rosalind Catto's appointment as head of the Inverness office, along with similar announcements in Forfar and Aberdeen as part of the firm's long-term succession plan.

Ms Catto said: “The Inverness team is extremely proud of Allison and Martin who are both absolutely deserving of these promotions. We are thoroughly committed to supporting our talented employees right across the firm and, in Inverness, I believe that we are doing exactly that.

“Alison and Martin have been key in our ongoing efforts to guide our clients during the coronavirus pandemic and have been essential throughout an undeniably challenging time for the business community.

“This December saw 36 of our people promoted across a range of offices and business lines, taking our total promotions for the year across the firm to 70. They are all extremely deserving of the recognition and I am certain that they will continue to drive the firm forwards as we enter 2021.”

Johnston Carmichael has 13 offices across the UK. The promotions bring the total number of partners at the firm to 59.
