Security staff at an Inverness supermarket stopped a 20-year-old man who was carrying a bag out of the store.

But Stephen Dick, of the city’s Mackintosh Road, took exception to their intervention and began rambling incoherently on May 11, 2020.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Dick then coughed in their direction, began shouting and swearing, and swung an item at the workers.

Dick admitted threatening behaviour and culpable and reckless conduct. He also pleaded guilty to drinking alcohol on March 7, 2022 in Farraline Park, Inverness in contravention of a bail order banning its consumption.

Defence solicitor Marc Dickson said his client was serving a six-month detention sentence and “he is a complex young man with a troubled past”.

Dick was jailed for 12 weeks.
