Internationally acclaimed pianist set to return to Nairn in October performance

An acclaimed British pianist will return to Nairn for an evening performance featuring music by Beethoven, Chopin, Haydn and Schumann.
Regarded as one of the UK’s finest pianist, Leon McCawley will perform at the Nairn Community and Arts Centre on Friday, October 20.
The concert is part of the Music Nairn 2023/24 concert series and Mr McCawley will play on Music Nairn’s own Steinway Model B grand piano, which is considered one of the best concert pianos in private hands in Scotland.
A Music Nairn spokesperson said they are delighted to welcome him back to Nairn.
They said: "McCawley’s many concert performances and extensive discography have established him as a pianist of great integrity and variety, bringing freshness and vitality to Classical, Romantic and 20th century repertoire."
The programme will see Mr McCawley will Haydn’s 1773 virtuosic Sonata in F major, Chopin’s lyrical Op55 pair of Nocturnes, and the ‘Les Adieux’ sonata written by Beethoven.
Mr McCawley has been delighting audiences worldwide since winning first prize in the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna in 1993
He is a regular performer at Wigmore Hall in London and has been performing on major international stages from New York to Hong Kong.
