A man who completed his first ever Island Munros Triathlon will talk about the experience in Inverness this month.

Alex Moran's talk will be on Monday, February 13, as part of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society (RSGS) Inspiring People talks programme.

In August 2021, together with Mike Coppock, he tackled the endurance event and completed it in a time of 32 hours and 22 minutes.

It involved scaling 13 Munros, with 6461m of ascent, and covering a distance of 309km between them.

The athletes dreamt up this epic and ingenious adventure with the goal of raising £10,000 for the Martin Moran Foundation.

Never before had all 13 of the Scottish island Munros been attempted in a single non-stop push, by running, cycling and swimming through the dramatic landscape of the north-west Highlands.

Alex said: “As a geography teacher, mountain instructor and general lover of the natural world I am very honoured to be speaking at the RSGS lecture series.

"I can't wait to share our Island Munros adventure across the dramatic landscape of the north-west coast with you all."

Mike Robinson, the RSGS chief executive, added: “It will be fascinating to hear from Alex about his ground-breaking achievement to climb all 13 island munros consecutively, an undertaking which is sure to have its fair share of adventures and anecdotes, especially coming from Alex as a professional mountaineering and climbing instructor.

"His talk will definitely be one worth coming out to hear.”

His talk begins at 7.30pm on February 13 at Craigmonie Hotel in Annfield Road, Inverness.

RSGS Inspiring People talks are open to all: tickets for face-to-face talks are free for RSGS Members, Students and under 18s and £10 for general admission.

Tickets are available to book online in advance at the RSGS website and some may also be available at the door for cash only.

There will be another face to face talk next month, on March 13 from 7.30pm, by Sue Stockdale on A Life of Adventure.

Online talks will be:

• An Interview with Lewis Pugh FRSGS on February 21 from 7.30pm;

• An Interview with Robin Hanbury-Tenison on March 21 from 7.30pm.
