A Highland estate agency and solicitor firm has sponsored Glen Urquhart Shinty Club’s junior teams, adding to the company’s long tradition of community youth support funding.

Innes & Mackay has sponsored the club to fund new strips for its youth teams, which provide sporting opportunities to primary and secondary school pupils.

Director of Innes & Mackay, Laura Cormack said: “Sponsoring Glen Urquhart Shinty Club’s youth teams is a great opportunity to get more young people in our communities involved in sports. As part of a team, young people have the chance to make new friends, boost their confidence and improve their mental and physical health – as well as learning skills that are transferable to the workplace, including teamwork, communication and cooperation

“Our team is very much a Highland team – all our staff have lived and worked in the region for many years. We are a community-focused business, committed to helping the friends and families we have met through our life and work. That’s why we are thrilled to be sponsoring Glen Urquhart Shinty Club – and look forward to cheering the teams on from the sidelines.”

This sponsorship is the latest initiative led by Innes & Mackay to support young people in the community. In recent years the firm has sponsored Drakies Primary School football team, provided £500 worth of gifts to the MFR Cash for Kids Christmas Appeal each year, and sponsored a dancer for the past five years at Inverness’ very own Strictly Come Dancing extravaganza, raising funds for the Highland Hospice.

It is well known that founders Charles Innes and William Mackay were dedicated to the improvement and development of the Highlands and Islands – William is well known for publishing several books, including his most famous, “History of Urquhart and Glenmoriston”. Today the team at Innes & Mackay shares the same commitment to improving and developing Highland and Island communities.

Stuart MacKintosh, U12s manager at Glen Urquhart Shinty Club, added: “The club, the parents and the community of Glen Urquhart can’t thank Innes & Mackay enough for sponsoring the new youth kits. The kids absolutely love their new look – it really brings them all together as a team.”

Innes & Mackay has been a constant presence in the Highlands for over 145 years, providing a wide range of legal services to clients across the region from its base in Inverness. The firm provides high-quality legal advice in property and land law, estate agency, family law, powers of attorney, wills, executries and guardianships.
