Residents on an Inverness housing estate are being invited to discuss concerns over cold callers.

Raigmore Community Council says it has become increasingly concerned about callers going door to door in the area which is a designated cold call control zone.

It is holding a meeting on Monday when Highland Council trading standards officer Mark McGinty will speak about the issue.

The meeting will be held at Raigmore Community Centre and starts at 7pm.

Community council chairman Munro Ross said: "Raigmore became a cold call control zone in 2017 and stickers with numbers to call were distributed to all houses and flats covered by it.

"Unfortunately, the number in trading standards to call is no longer staffed and so it rings out.

"This has led to increased pressure on both 101 and 999 for the police.

"We are delighted that Mark McGinty has agreed to update the community on recent developments and what we can expect from trading standards and the police."

He added Mr McGinty was acknowledged by the police as being an expert in the subject and whose advice was often sought by officers.

Fresh warnings on rogue traders and doorstep scams

Monday's meeting is expected to last about one hour.
