WINTER roads maintenance crew with BEAR Scotland are out in force this morning in the north-west.

BEAR North-West Trunk Roads posted: "Some snow showers starting to come in on the NW network. All routes have been treated. We still have 38 gritters out patrolling and monitoring – please drive safe if out."

The plea comes amid a Met Office snow and ice warning that runs until the end of Tuesday.

The operator is responsible for looking after the network on behalf of Transport Scotland.

It had earlier warned: "Be prepared for this morning's snow and ice warning and drive safe. Check the conditions

@trafficscotland before you go out."

It has posted an image with multiple camera shots giving a snapshot of conditions.

These include monitors on the A835 at Braemore, Brahan and Aultguish.
