TWINKLE-TOED types are being asked to put their best foot forward for Inverness’s top charity dance contest.

Applications are due to open on Monday for the 2020 outing of Strictly Inverness, in aid of Highland Hospice.

Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre, which also benefits from the annual fundraiser, are kick-starting the search for 32 individuals – 16 male and 16 female – to attend dance lessons between January and May of next year, ahead of the grand final which will take place on May 13.

Contestants must have little or no dance experience and be committed to both their training schedule and fundraising for the two charities.

The event celebrated its tenth anniversary in May of this year, raising £1,526,160 in total for Highland Hospice and £324,400 for Inverness Ice Centre in the past decade.

Hospice communications officer Wendy Morgan said: “It’s exciting to begin our search for next year’s Strictly Inverness stars. We always attract a range of people with a mix of ages and reasons for participating.”

She added: “Aside from the glitz and glamour, this is a charity event which exists to raise much needed funds for two local causes close to the hearts of many. So if you fancy becoming a hit on the dance floor, meeting a new group of people, increasing your confidence and helping two fantastic Highland charities, this could be your moment!”

Online entry will be available to October 28 at www.highlandhospice.org/strictlyinverness
