Scaffolding that has blighted Inverness city centre for most of the past decade has finally disappeared.

The supporting structure that has been holding the fire-ravaged remains of the former Eastgate Hostel (pictured) in place were finally completely removed on Friday, with the retained facade now held in pace by additional support on the interior.

The hostel was destroyed in an early morning blaze that broke out in April 2013.

Focus will now shift to owners’ plans to restore the building which occupies a prime city centre site.
