Inverness Cathedral music day raised hundreds for two charities as musicians got together for the first time in two years

More than £900 was raised from donations at a fundraising day at Inverness Cathedral when 45 wind, brass and percussion players held an open-door rehearsal followed by an informal concert.

MFR’s Cash 4 Kids and the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal will share the money.

Billed as Symphonic Winds, the musicians – conducted – by Kieran Forsyth – are part of the Cash 4 Kids’ Symphony Orchestra.

Paul Wilson, who set up the orchestra in 2018, said: “Lockdown restrictions were easing and we decided to put together the day to get musicians together for the first time in two years and raise some money.

People came from all over – Thurso, Elgin, Fort William and Inverness.”

Now it is planned 2019’s movies-inspired concert will have a sequel on October 1 with the orchestra’s Back to the Movies – Part Two!
