Plans to build an extension and make alterations to an Inverness hotel have been withdrawn.

They had been submitted by the owners of the Waterside Hotel, in Ness Bank, in November 2019.

Details about the scale and nature of the project are no longer available on the Highland Council website.

At the beginning of last year it was reported that the owners, Edinburgh-based Jon and Victoria Erasmus, wanted to increase the number of bedrooms there, from 28 to 85, utilising existing car parking as space for the new accommodation.

Mr and Mrs Erasmus bought the Waterside Hotel in 2018 and also own the neighbouring Glen Mhor Hotel, which has itself undergone significant expansion. They planned to add an extension to the existing two-storey property and build a neighbouring two-and-three-quarter-storey annexe. However, the plans sparked concerns about parking capacity at the time.

According to supporting documentation, the intention was to manage Glen Mhor and the Waterside as one venture, with shared parking to provide “some additional parking facilities”.

No one from the hotel was available for comment.
