A dark period in the history of a scenic Highland glen will be highlighted in an exhibition in Beauly.

The infamous Highland clearances during the 18th century saw the population of Strathglass and other nearby areas near Beauly decimated as people were forced to leave the land to provide grazing for sheep.

Many ended up leaving forever to begin new lives in other parts of the world.

The Strathglass Clearances exhibition will take place from October 13 to 15 at the Beauly Bowling Club behind Phipps Hall from 11am to 4pm each day.

It has been put together by the Strathglass Heritage Association and previously had a successful run at Marydale, Cannich.

Admission to the exhibition is free.
