A Highlands adventurer will be re-living his conquest of Mount Everest in front of a theatre audience later this summer.

Sam Cairns, Founder of Fitnessat58° and ex-Team GB biathlete, reached the summit of the 8,848m high mountain in mid-May.

Cairns had to battle severe altitude sickness, tonsillitis and other personal challenges to complete the feat.

Tickets have gone on sale today for his talk 'Say No To The Helicopter' taking place on August 1 at Inverness' Eden Court.

It is a one-of-a-kind event during which Cairns will give a personal account of the physical and mental challenges he had to conquer to make it to the top and safely back down.

Cairns is a local entrepreneur who runs catering firm The Lunchbox Boys and founder of Fitnessat58° based by Glenfeshie near Aviemore.

He has a passion for pushing his limits and encouraging others to step outside their comfort zones, though he calls himself an ordinary adventurer with an extraordinary story.

Cairns told the Strathy on his return: "This was the toughest mental test of my life, and I'm very glad to be home.

"Mount Everest truly lives up to the hype."

He continued: "Being at the top is like being in plane but your feet are on the ground.

"The extreme weather made it hard to enjoy but I summited as the sun came up which added to the amazing feeling."

He will share his inspiring story taking his audience on a journey of resilience, determination, and self-discovery.

Cairns will give a personal account of his summit of Mount Everest and share the lessons he learned during his arduous climb.

Needing determination and unparalleled perseverance, Cairns reveals he pushed beyond his comfort zone and embarked on a soul-searching expedition that saw him challenge the limits of human resilience.

But his story is set to remind people that sometimes the most extraordinary moments in life are found when people just say no to the easy way out.
