A YOUNG north seafood supplier, whose customers include celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, will be representing Scotland in a competition to find the rising stars of UK business.

Magnus Houston, managing director of Inverness company Coast and Glen, won the rising star category in the Scottish final of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition.

He will now go on to represent Scotland in the UK final in his category in October.

Annie Graham, a partner in award sponsors EY, congratulated Mr Houston and his fellow Scottish finalists.

"In addition to making a positive impact on Scotland's economy, these entrepreneurs are making a real difference to the people and communities they work with," she added.

Mr Houston founded Coast and Glen in 2011 to provide fresh fish and shellfish to local customers in hotels and restaurants.

The company has since expanded to include subscription service Fishbox, which sends quality fish to customers across the UK.

The company's expansion was helped by funding from HSBC, with Mr Houston crediting the bank's support in allowing the company to export goods beyond the Highlands and Islands.

"The finance the bank provided gave us the flexibility we needed to take our quality fish to the London market and win contracts from the likes of Gordon Ramsay," he said.
