Fans of an Inverness rugby club will be able to better follow their home games' scores with a brand new electronic scoreboard being unveiled.

The Orion Group have donated a new state-of-the-art electronic scoreboard for Highland Rugby club's home ground in a bid to enhance the game-day experience for local rugby enthusiasts.

Roy Dinnes, president of Highland Rugby Club, expressed his enthusiasm.

He said: “Everyone at Highland RFC is hugely grateful to Orion Group for supporting our continued development at Canal Park.

"This project brings us into line with the majority of National 1 clubs where we have had scoreboard envy for a number of years now.

"The electronic scoreboard is a testament to the club's dedication to providing top-notch facilities for its players and an unparalleled experience for its supporters. This addition promises to be a highlight of every match."

The club's first team is currently second in the National 1 league, just behind Ayr, and are set to play Melrose this weekend.

One of its young players will also be the mascot at the coming rugby World Cup clash in Paris between Scotland and Ireland.

Chris Neale from Orion Group commented: "Highland has clear ambitions for this season, and we are delighted to support the continued development of rugby in the highlands over the next 4 years.

"Highland’s fantastic facilities, community initiative and inclusive approach to rugby now means that grass roots and the women’s games are also quickly developing and gaining momentum.

"It’s an exciting time for Highland Rugby and we are looking forward to seeing how the teams get on this season."
