A Ross-shire fashion designer is set to have her designs on display at the V&A in Dundee.

Siobhan Mackenzie, who is originally from the Black Isle will display a range of her tartans at the museum from April 1.

It is part of a wider exhibition of the globally recognised design dubbed Tartan, which will also include the oldest-known piece of tartan found in Scotland.

Running until January 2024, the exhibition presents a radical new look at the design and brings together many different voices from around the world.

Commenting on her social media account, Miss Mackenzie said: "Tartan at the V&A Dundee opens to the public on April 1st.

"It’s a very surreal moment to have my work featured amongst world-leading designers such as Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Gucci to name a few.

"Congratulations to the curation team on an excellent exhibition showcasing our nation’s beautiful cloth!"

Ms Mackenzie launched her self-named label in 2014, a year which included a stint for her as an alteration technician at Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games.

Ms Mackenzie’s designer kilts have already taken New York fashion circles by storm, featuring alongside famous labels like Prada, Jimmy Choo and Gucci in one of the Big Apple’s swankiest department stores, the luxury outlet Bergdorf Goodman.

The cast of the reality TV show, the Real Housewives of New York, previously wore her kilts for a charity fashion event, while her kilts have also been worn on-stage by pop star Justin Bieber.
