Highland driver (41) banned for 32 months after caught driving under influence of drugs

An Aviemore man with a bad record for driving offences has received a 32-months driving ban for being behind the wheel with cocaine in his system.
The 41-year-old father-of-two Steven Mullan of Munro Place, was marginally over the safe limit of 10mcgs - his reading was 12 mcgs
But Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald imposed a lengthy ban because of his previous convictions.
She also fined him £580.
Sheriff Macdonald said: "You have a terrible record for offending and breaches of the Road Traffic Act.
"I note that your licence has at last been revoked which was not a bad idea."
Fiscal depute Emily Hood told the court that police stopped Mullan on Millburn Road in Inverness on March 24, 2021 about 10pm.
He was stopped for a routine document check and officers suspected he was under the influence of drugs by his appearance.
Defence solicitor advocate Shahid Latid told the court: "There was a family illness diagnosed at that time and his way of coping was to turn to this drug.
"He has since attended treatment and has been clean of drugs since July, 2021."
