The Riverside Way project in Inverness aims to improve active travel provision along Ness Walk and Bught Road for those walking, wheeling, and cycling along the corridor, according to developers.

Design work for the project has been funded by the “Places for Everyone” initiative, which is administered by Sustrans.

Highland Council has worked with consultants Aecom to create developed designs for proposed works which will further develop the Inverness City Active Travel Network.

A drop-in public information event on the proposed Riverside Way development will be held at the Bught Stop on Thursday October 6 from 3.30pm until 7.30pm.

The developed designs and corresponding cross-sections of the route will be presented for public review.

Chair of the Highland Council’s environment and infrastructure committee, councillor Ken Gowans hopes it is encouraging people to come along.

He said: “This is a great chance for anyone interested in active travel to come along and see the designs so they get see what is proposed for this popular route along the River Ness and pass on their comments.

“This project supports the council’s climate change commitments towards supporting carbon reduction opportunities so I hope as many people as possible take up this opportunity and come along.”

Bught Stop is beside the Bught Stores and representatives from the project will be on hand on Thursday from 3.30pm until 7.30pm.

The designs and a project report will be submitted to the next City of Inverness area committee which takes place on Thursday November 24.

If approved, technical design and construction will start in 2023.
