Highland Council election, 74 Councillors to be elected on Thursday May 5

Highland Council has released the notice for the number of potential councillors for the next election.

The local election, which takes place every five years, is now seeking candidates to come forward with their nomination to stand.

As published in the notice of election, a total of 74 Councillors are to be elected for the 21 electoral wards situated in the Highland Council area, ranging from three or four members in each ward as indicated below.

Ward 1: North, West and Central Sutherland - 3

Ward 2; Thurso and Northwest Caithness - 4

Ward 3; Wick and East Caithness - 4.

Ward 4; Suthherland and Edderton - 3

Ward 5; Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh - 4

Ward 6; Cromarty Firth - 4

Ward 7; Tain and Easter Ross - 3

Ward 8; Dingwall and Seaforth - 4.

Ward 9; Black Isle - 3

Ward 10; Eilean a' Cheò - 4

Ward 11; Caol and Mallaig - 3

Ward 12; Aird and Loch Ness -4

Ward 13; Inverness West - 3

Ward 14; Inverness Central - 3

Ward 15; Inverness Ness-side - 3

Ward 16; Inverness Millburn - 3

Ward 17; Culloden and Ardersier -3

Ward 18; Nairn and Cawdor - 4

Ward 19; Inverness South - 4

Ward 20; Badenoch and Strathspey -4

Ward 21; Fort William and Ardnamurchan - 4

Anyone wishing to stand, can download the nomination forms from the Council’s website www.highland.gov.uk/SLG22Election.

Completed nomination papers must be hand delivered between 10am on Tuesday March 15 and no later than 4.00 pm on Wednesday March 30 to the appropriate Local Depute Returning Officer as detailed in the notice of election - https://www.highland.gov.uk/slg22notice

The election is scheduled is to be held on Thursday May 5 and all relevant information can be found on the Council’s website, this includes key statutory dates and arrangements for voting. www.highland.gov.uk/SLG22Election
