Entries are being sought for a ‘Light it up Bright at Christmas’ fundraising competition for an ambitious project to develop Scotland’s first integrated centre for young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in the Highlands.

The Haven Appeal is inviting people to take photographs of their indoor or outdoor Christmas lights display.

The competition will be judged by renowned Inverness photographer Alison White who will take a professional photograph of the winner’s light display.

The winner will also receive a Christmas hamper while there will be surprise prizes for the second and third-placed entrants.

Entrants are being asked to donate a minimum of £5.

The appeal, launched by the Elsie Normington Foundation, aims to raise £4 million to build the Haven Centre, featuring a specialist play centre, three flats for overnight respite care, a community café and garden.

The appeal recently received a £250,000 boost from the UK charitable institution, the Garfield Weston Foundation

It came on the heels of a £1.1 million grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.
