Highland accordionist Calum MacPhail to support Hollywood star Russell Crowe’s Inverness concert
Award-winning Highland accordionist Calum MacPhail looks set to share the stage with a Hollywood star after he was asked to support Russell Crowe's Inverness concert this summer.
The MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards winner already had one big feather in his cap this summer after being asked to support Celtic rockers Skipinnish on their 25th anniversary tour date in the Highland capital.
But now he can add the Australian star of blockbusters like Gladiator to the list, after being named as a support act for Crowe's "Indoor Garden Party" at Eden Court on July 26.
Sharing the news on his Facebook page, Calum said: "Not every day you get an email from Russel Crowe, asking to support his gig at Eden Court."
Alongside his post he shared a poster for the concert with his name included among the support acts. Others include the Gentlemen Barbers, Lorraine O'Reilly and (appearing alongside Calum) Alasdair Macquarrie.
Calum's fans are delighted with his upcoming appearance.
Reacting to his post, Sheena Morrison said: "In with the big boys now! Well done!"
Lindsay Menzies added: "Wow, that's fantastic news - congratulations!"
