Classes in this year’s Inverness Music Festival have seen some strong competition, according to the adjudicators.

This year the festival has been staged online due to the coronavirus pandemic but chairman Jean Slater said they had been delighted with the response.

There had been many exceptional performances to view online while the adjudicators had commented on the high standards among the young competitors.

"John Somerville, one of our Scottish music adjudicators commented that this year has been particularly challenging and commented that the standard of composing was incredible with fantastic variety," Miss Slater said.

He had also enjoyed judging the popular household bubble class.

"He commented on the joy of watching the families working together incorporating all the different standards, and producing such fascinating performances," Miss Slater added.

Adjudicator Shirley McGill highlighted the high standards in the speech entries, in solo verse and public speaking and also the poetry compositions.

The Clarsach Open and public speaking competitions also saw high standards.
