600 blood donors are needed in the Highlands to keep supplies in place for the festive season.

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) has added additional sessions at Raigmore Hospital and are calling ondonors to come forward.

A spokeswoman for SNBTS said: "We have added lots of additional donor sessions at the Raigmore Hospital Donor Centre throughout December to help sustain a sufficient blood supply to our hospitals and patients over the festive period.

"Just one blood donation can save or improve the lives of up to three people. We aim to have six days worth of supplies at any time to meet the requirements of patients in Scotland."
