Inverness Museum and Art Gallery exhibition looks at the history of healthcare in the Highlands
A NEW exhibition has opened at the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery showcasing the history of health in the Highlands.
Health, Wealth and Happiness takes a look at traditional treatments, cutting-edge technologies and the Covid-19 pandemic.
The museum spent the last year working with individuals, communities and organisations to collect a range of items and stories.
At the heart of the exhibition is a healthcare collection from retired nurse David Wright which he donated to Inverness Museum and Art Gallery.
David’s collection includes tools, uniforms, bottles and bags from every corner of the Highlands.
Individuals highlighted in the exhibition include Covid-19 survivor Sarah MacDougall and four-year-old Carys Vaughan who has loaned the museum a range of objects including her first prosthetic leg and a very special Barbie doll.
Museum curator Kari Moodie said: “We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on this topic with our first major collections exhibition in over 10 years.
“Visitors will discover historical medical equipment, learn about the lives of pioneering Highland medics, and step into an immersive early 20th century pharmacy.”
The-exhibition will be on display in Inverness until June 18.
