Health bosses say people need to remain vigilant as coronavirus cases in the Highlands remain low.

People in the Highlands are being urged not to be complacent as efforts continue to bring a coronavirus outbreak in neighbouring Moray under control.

With an escalating number of cases in Moray, an incident management team is overseeing efforts including a mobile testing unit which arrived in Elgin at the end of last week.

A spokesman for NHS Highland said people in this region should remain vigilant.

"We are in level three," he said.

"Measures are slowly starting to ease and we are moving in the right direction.

"However, we all need to remain vigilant.

"We know outbreaks are still happening and our neighbours in Moray are seeing ‘uncontrolled, sustained community transmission’ of Covid-19.

"Numbers may be low in Highland but we must not be complacent."

People are urged to continue following the advice which includes wearing face masks, avoiding crowded places and cleaning hands and surfaces regularly as well as to self-isolate and get tested if they show Covid-19 symptoms.
