A HALF moon dead centre in the sky above the main stage was the only thing that might have upstaged Friday's RockNess headliners.

Three songs into the set as photographers were ushered out of the pit, lead singer Tom Meighan took off his dark glasses and finally gave Kasabian's crowd the love.

"RockNess, you look beautiful from here!"

He and Serge Pizzorno had gone for the old-fashioned rocker look, Tom in black leather jacket, jeans and round dark glasses, Serge in black lace-edged shirt and scarf tied around his head.

With an encore showcasing second new song Switchblade Smile, it seemed to hint more than the first new number Velociraptor had that a massive bassy dance direction could be the wild card we least expected from September's upcoming fourth album.

Donna Summer's I Feel Love was the out-there cover introducing Stuntman, Serge singing and showing he's as mermerising a frontman as Tom.

And by the time, the scarlet lightshow of Fire powered out across the faces of the crowd for the final number of the encore, Kasabian really were on fire.
