Owners of a popular hotel in Nairn are seeking planning permission for an extension.

The Havelock Hotel in Nairn could be revamped as owners look to take down a garage, with the new extension providing a restaurant area and more bar space at the popular venue in the town’s Crescent Road.

Listed building consent was granted by Highland Council in November with the full application now to be dealt with.

A council officer assessing the likely impact of the plans on the existing hotel building said: “While clearly contemporary in style, the proposal has a simple aesthetic and appropriate scale, which will be a relatively unobtrusive addition to the listed building.

“As an extension to the existing (contemporary) side extension, the proposal is not considered to adversely affect the historic character, fabric or layout of the original listed building.”
