The awards which recognise the achievements of local businesses are returning in November and the shortlist has just been announced.

Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) is hosting the glitzy event on November 1, which is a chance to celebrate the city centre shops, restaurants and offices.

Now it's your time to vote for the winner!

BID director Lorraine Bremner McBride said: “We are delighted to have had such an amazing response to the BID City Centre Awards after a three year break due to Covid.

“The people of Inverness have really got behind us as the nominations have been overwhelming this year with almost 10,000 votes being received which is a new record and just shows how much our city centre businesses are valued.

“Voting to decide the winner opens on Friday September 16 so make sure to cast your vote for your favourite in each category. “

The finalists for this year’s awards are:

Independent Retailer of the Year:

Ablekids Press; Aeturnum; Keepsakes; Ness Music; One of a Kind; Panasonic Inverness and Euronics Centre; Saffron Oriental Foods; and Triquerta Crafts

National Retailer of the Year:

HMV; Hotel Chocolat; Lakeland; Lush; Morrisons Supermarket; Superdrug; The Entertainer; and Waterstones.

Independent Fashion Retailer of the Year:

Caffreys; Charlotte Smith Bridal Boutique; Ginger Fashion; La Di Da Fashion; Maggie Blyth; North Designerwear; Queen B Dancewear; and Rouge Boutiques,

National Retailer of the Year:

Crew Clothing; H&M; Marks & Spencer; New Look; Next; Phase Eight; Primark; and Slaters Menswear.

Charity Retailer of the Year:

Barnardos; British Heart Foundation; Cancer Research UK; Carr Gomm; Highland Hospice; Mikeysline; PDSA; and Shelter.

Independent Restaurant of the Year:

Aspendos; Cafe 1; Fig & Thistle; Mangrove; Mustard Seed; The Rajah; Scotch & Rye; and The White House.

National Restaurant of the Year:

Auctioneers; Bella Italia; Pizza Express; The Filling Station; and Zizzi’s

Independent Cafe of the Year:

National Cafe of the Year:

Voting closes on Sunday October 2 at midnight.

The Inverness BID Awards will take place at the Kingsmills Hotel where all the winners will be announced on the night.
