Sustainable Travel Day to be held at UHI Inverness Campus

A GREEN travel event will be showcasing opportunities for moving sustainably in and around Inverness.

The Sustainable Travel Day, organised by organised by Inverness Campus, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Highland Council, HiTrans, Highland and Islands Student Association (HISA) and other local partners is set to take place on Thursday, April 28 from 12pm to 2pm at at the atrium and main entrance of the University of the Highlands and Islands Inverness Campus.

The event follows on from the Low Carbon Day which was held at the Inverness Campus last October and aims to celebrate and educate people about the various modes of transport available to you in Inverness.

Sustainable Travel day will feature Hi-bike demonstrations and Velocity’s ‘Dr Bike’. There will also be stalls where you can find out more about green travel, e-bike and electric car funding and climate change projects.

Katie Andrews, Climate Change Coordinator at Highland Council, said: “Travel and transport will be a massive factor in reaching our net zero goals in the Highland region.

"Sustainable Travel day is an excellent example of how we can bring partners together from across Highland to empower individuals to make changes and showcase the exciting work currently going on in Inverness and the wider Highlands."

She added: "This event will provide fun activities for everyone and the Council’s Climate Change and Energy team will be there to speak about some of the climate change projects which people can get involved with."
