The Raj Tandoori Inverness will close tomorrow.

Based at Smithton Industrial Estate, near to Harry Gow bakery headquarters, it made its announcement on social media.

A spokesman for the Indian takeaway said: "Dear valued customers, it is with a heavy heart that we must announce the permanent closure of The Raj Tandoori.

"We have cherished serving you over the years and providing you with delicious meals.

"Sunday is our last day of serving, so order now to get your last taste of our flavourful dishes. Thank you for your loyal patronage!"

It is unclear what has triggered the decision.

The announcement prompted dozens of responses from people praising the business and expressing sadness at its imminent closure.

Linda McFadden stated: "We would like to thank all the staff. Over 30 years we have been going there and can honestly say we have never found another like it."

Shaun Flaherty said: "Best Indian in town, by a country mile."

Steph Adlinton commented: "So sorry to hear this, always amazing food. You will be missed."
