Glory for Highland News and Media at Highlands and Islands Press Awards in Inverness

There were a quartet of winners from Highland News and Media at the annual Highlands and Islands Press Awards last night.

Louise Glen, Val Sweeney, Callum Mackay and Eric Cormack were among the winners at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness.

Louise and Val are senior reporters for the Inverness Courier, Ross-shire Journal, Highland News and North Star. Callum is a photographer for those newspapers, while Eric is a photographer for the Northern Scot and Forres Gazette. They won:

  • Top story of the year: Louise Glen
  • Feature writer of the year: Val Sweeney
  • Photographer of the year: Callum Mackay
  • Top shot of the year: Eric Cormack

Iain Grant, the former editor of the Caithness Courier and John O’Groat Journal, received the Barron Trophy for lifelong achievement in journalism.
