DISABLED people are getting on their bikes thanks to a new project launched in Inverness.

A fleet of specially-adapted bikes and trikes are getting them in the saddle as part of a scheme by Inverness’s cycling charity WheelNess.

The charity currently operates a free bike loan scheme and cycling support group for people with mental health and other debilitating issues.

It held a try-out event at Inverness Campus with participants including Ian Tallach (48), from Drumnadrochit, who has multiple sclerosis.

“It was like an epiphany,” he said.

“Suddenly, something I thought was consigned to the past became possible and I have fallen in love with it again.”
