After months of submitting nominations for the amazing unsung heroes in your community – it’s now decision time!

Who will you vote for as your Highland Heroes of 2023?

Our judges had a tough job whittling down all of your nominations but now it is over to you. Later today, tomorrow and over the weekend we will share all of the individual stories about your shortlisted nominees.

You will hear from teachers, pupils and entire schools, volunteers, fundraisers and community champions to health, emergency services and care heroes, charities and brave children who have overcome huge challenges in their young lives.

And among the shortlistees is our very first green hero who will be presented with a brand new award for 2023 celebrating an individual or individuals who are helping to create a cleaner, greener future.

You can vote in any of the 14 main categories – or all of them – and the winners will be announced at the fabulous awards ceremony at the Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness on Friday, March 10.

As well as the main categories, there is also a very special accolade which will be presented on the night. The hero of heroes will be chosen by the judges from among all of your winners and revealed at the awards ceremony. All shortlistees and our generous sponsors are invited to attend the event which will be an evening of fantastic entertainment and dining, high emotion and more than a few tears! Before host Nicky Marr gets the formal proceedings under way, shortlistees will be treated to a VIP reception at Drumossie where they can relax, mingle and steady any nerves.

The awards are sponsored once again by Inverness Airport.

Graeme Bell, Inverness Airport general manager, said: “The awards are a great way to thank the people that selflessly offer their time to help others, without asking for anything in return. We are looking forward to being able to show our appreciation towards them and what they do for others. I would encourage everyone to show their support for the awards. Supporting our local community is so important to Inverness Airport, and the awards are a wonderful way to say thank you for letting us be a part of that community.”

Vote online at www.hnmedia.co.uk/highlandheroes by the deadline, Sunday, February 19.
