With the Christmas season upon us, shopping for loved ones and getting everything prepared and stocked up may feel overwhelming. That’s why a Highland luxury shopping venue is determined for it not to just be a task to cross off a list, but an immersive and memorable experience for all.

Spey Valley Shopping is based within the Macdonald Aviemore Resort and offers a range of high-end clothing brands, including Barbour and Dubarry, alongside having an artisan delicatessen and a range of gifts for every age.

Caron Black has been head of retail at Spey Valley Shopping for the past eight years, and she is passionate about people and spends her time ensuring the very best products are in stock.

Discussing the offerings at Spey Valley Shopping, she said: “We have a mini department store here in the heart of the Highlands. For me, it feels like Christmas every day when a new delivery arrives.

“We work hard to get the right products in, and we visit the suppliers we can, getting to see, feel, and know the products we are buying.

“I buy approximately nine months in advance, and I’m always keeping an eye on the latest trends and talking to suppliers about what fashions are going to be appearing.

“We have a range of luxury brands, including both local and international products that are highly sought after.”

Caron herself has been working in retail all her life, so she has a keen eye for finding the best quality.

Having worked at House of Fraser for 19 years, closely collaborating with names such as Chanel and Estee Lauder, she knows her style and what her customers want.

She said: “I worked in a range of roles at House of Fraser before I went to work at TK Maxx. TK Maxx had a wonderful business model, and I was there for 11 years, opening stores across Scotland and troubleshooting stores that weren’t doing so well.

“My old boss from TK Maxx was then working at Spey Valley Shopping as the retail director and got in touch with me to see if I would like to help with a project. I had turned 50 that year and thought that it was my last chance to do something new and challenging. I took it on, and I haven’t looked back since.

“I love it here. The people are my favourite part of the role. No two days are the same as we have customers from all over the world coming in alongside our regular locals. We also have an incredible team here at Spey Valley Shopping – they all work so hard, and they are great fun!”

To celebrate customers this festive season, Caron and her team are organizing ‘12 days of Christmas’ in the run-up to December 25.

From tasting events to fizz and nibbles to free gifts, Spey Valley Shopping is pulling out all the stops for its customers to give something back during Christmas time.

“Caron said: “We will be giving away free candles and scarves, and we are going to have discounted jewellery too!

“We just want to say a big thank you to our customers and create a local shopping experience for everyone!”
