A city centre shop is getting into spirit of the season by letting others use its space for free.

Maggie Blyth Boutique in Post Office Avenue, Inverness is to open its doors each Sunday in December in the run up to Christmas so other business owners can use it as a pop-up shop.

Owner Maggie Blyth said: “I had seen online that a retailer was not able to get a stall this year and prices were too high for other things.

“So I just thought I could let them use mine for free as we are closed on a Sunday.

“It’s the time of year to encourage one another and cheer them up, so I just ran with the idea.”

When Ms Blyth posted on social media to say she was offering the space, she was amazed at the interest.

“I couldn’t believe how many people contacted me and were looking to use the space”, she said. “I am just able to offer the three weeks at the moment, but I hope that other retailers will do the same if they have the space.

“It shows that the demand is there and it will also hopefully bring more footfall into the city centre.

“All businesses are struggling at the moment, so we need to help one another out where we can.”

Highland Fairy will be in the shop on December 4, Nicole Duncan as Crafty Mamas will be showcasing her goods on December 11 then Lavender and Lemon Apothecary on December 18.
