Inverness-based investment group, GEG Capital Ltd, has appointed a company protégée to the newly created role of group recruitment director.

Iona Currie, who was previously managing director of Cammach Bryant - one of the group’s four recruitment businesses - will be tasked with growing the business portfolio, both organically and through acquisitions. She will also sit on the acquisitions team at GEG Capital.

GEG Capital’s portfolio of recruitment businesses includes Aberdeen-based Cammach Bryant and Genesis Personnel and Inverness-based Be Personnel and Global Highland.

Between them the group covers a wide range of sectors from: food processing; construction; industrial; oil and gas; marine; and renewables within the Highlands and globally.

Speaking about her new role, Ms Currie, said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be taking on the role of group recruitment director at GEG Capital. Each of the four businesses have been enjoying strong periods of growth in the last few years - even through the pandemic - and I look forward to growing the portfolio.

“There’s huge potential for organic growth by strengthening links and co-operation between the four businesses but also by looking at strategic acquisitions that will let us enter new markets. That will be a key part of my new role in the group.”

Speaking about Ms Currie’s new role at GEG Capital, director, Jia MacKenzie, commented:

“We are delighted that someone with Iona’s expertise and experience across the recruitment, construction and energy sectors has accepted the offer to head up our recruitment group.

"She will also be joining our acquisitions team as we look to grow the portfolio and play a strategic role in driving growth across all four of our recruitment businesses, which are already recognised as leaders in their sectors.

“Hiring someone like Ms Currie who has grown with the group since 2009 - to reach the position of managing director at one of the group companies - is not only a great personal achievement for her but also a great testament to our people and culture strategy. Central to that is a programme to identify and develop future leaders and Ms Currie is a great example of that .”
