AN Inverness music festival has cancelled its 2020 event due to the unfolding situation with coronavirus.

Last year's event saw more than 5000 people in the Northern Meeting Park for a mix of modern and traditional music.

In a statement, organisers said: "It is with a heavy heart we can confirm that the Gathering Festival has now been cancelled.

"All ticket holders for the Gathering Festival and shows that are part of the Highland Gathering will be refunded the full face value of their tickets.

"Customers who bought their tickets online via our ticket agent Skiddle will be given a full refund within seven days. No need to contact Skiddle directly as your refund will be processed automatically. As part of their Fair Refund Policy your booking fee will also be returned.

"Customers who bought physical tickets from outlets Ironworks Venue, Eden Court Theatre and Cinema or Caffery's Designerwear should contact your point of purchase when possible to claim your refund.

"A huge shout out to all our event suppliers and partners who have been so incredibly supportive and kind to us when we contacted them today. Thank you all for your understanding.

"We will be back next year and can’t wait to see you all then."
