Gathering festival announces 'packed' lineup for 2024

The Gathering is set to return to Inverness next year with a packed line up of the traditional music including, multi-award winning singer Julie Fowlis and explosive six piece west coast act Trail West.
Leading the line-up for next year's festival at Bught Park on Saturday June 1, 2024 are west coast stars Trail West, after their long anticipated celebratory 10th year as a band in 2022, which coordinated with the release of their fourth album and a sell-out show at Glasgow’s famous Barrowland Ballroom.
Explosive six piece west coast act Trail West have continued to flourish throughout 2023 with a third consecutive sell-out Barrowlands show following on from a performance at the OVO Hydro and a nomination as Live Act of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2022.
Joining them is multi-award winning singer Julie Fowlis. As well as being known for her work with the Disney Pixar movie Brave, Julie is widely heralded for championing traditional Gaelic. Her music is deeply influenced by the Hebridean islands where she grew up and by the Highland landscapes where she now resides.
Festival goers can look forward to enjoying the best of traditional Scottish vocals, backed by Fowlis’ vibrant band of some of Scotland’s finest instrumentalists.
Other acts appearing over the day include Highland legends and The Gathering’s "unofficial house band", Torridon.
Also appearaing are one of Scotland’s most popular progressive folk acts the recently reformed Croft No Five; and one of the most exciting acts on the cotemporary trad scene, Scottish-Electronic duo Valtos.
Joining the bill too are Sian, who comprise three of today’s most exquisitely young Gaelic singers - Ceitlin Lilidh, Eilidh Cormack and Ellen MacDonald – accompanied by in-demand multi-instrumentalist Innes White who will make their Gathering debut.
Inverness-based and fast rising young traditional band Cala will also make a welcome return to the festival. Malin Lewis bring their effervescent folk played on fiddle, bouzouki, double bass and a newly invented bagpipe to the festival for the first time.
Opening the festival in traditional style will be The City of Inverness Youth Pipe Band.
