Police had to be called to a garden party in Inverness after one of the guests started "making no sense" and uttering violent threats to others.

The city's sheriff court heard that Lara Begg (26) had been invited for drinks along with her other half and assorted friends at the Murray Road property on May 6 last year.

But during the gathering Begg, of King Duncan's Road, became "agitated" with her partner, fiscal depute David Morton said.

He said witnesses noted her "making no sense" and she started making violent threats including saying to someone "I'm going to kill you".

The police were called but Begg had already left the party when officers arrived on scene and she was later traced and charged with threatening and abusive behaviour.

She admitted the charge when she appeared in court.

Defence agent Mhyrin Hill said an argument had "got out of control" but described her client's behaviour as a "completely isolated incident".

Sheriff Sara Matheson fined Begg £180 plus a £10 victim surcharge.
