AN Inverness charity which supports young people with special needs has received a boost of more than £2600.

The Inverness TSB branch has raised the money over the year as part of an annual fundraising effort which included raffles, hampers and a sponsored walk at Ben Nevis to support the charity Special Needs Action Project (SNAP), which is based in Drummond Primary School.

TSB’s Caroline Cumming said: “It was lovely to see their reaction to the cheque and know that they will be able to replace some of their old and broken toys and games. The children have really wanted a Nintendo Switch which they have not had funds to buy but now they can.

“Every year we chose a different charity to support through our annual fundraising, however this is the second year we have supported SNAP. They do great work and we were aware of the issues they had been facing with funding.”

SNAP manager Dawn Walker said: “We at SNAP are so grateful to our local branch of TSB for the fundraising they have undertaken, and for the cheque we received for the amazing sum of £2682.

“Our recent struggles with funding have been well documented, so our focus has been on ‘stand-still’ funding – making sure our activities and clubs run as they always have – supporting 80 children, young people and adults with learning disabilities and associated complex support needs in the Inverness area through after-school clubs, holiday leisure schemes, Saturday outings, youth clubs and weekend breaks, which not only allow the users to have a brilliant time with friends but also gives their parents, carers and families some much-needed time off.

“This latest donation will allow us to buy some lovely new games, resources and sensory items which all our users will benefit from and will add to the fabulous KMX recumbent cycles we were able to purchase last year with previous money donated to us by TSB Inverness.”
