Further travel woes as Highland roads closed following heavy rain

Motorists are being warned of various road closures in the Highlands following heavy rain.

The A82 at Drumnadrochit is closed in both directions due to debris on the carriageway

Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes where possible.

It comes a day when rail travellers in the Highlands are also facing disruption due to flooding.

Motorists are also being advised by Highland Council that the A836 north of Tain has been closed due to a fallen tree.

The road is currently closed in both directions.

The A862 is waterlogged in places from Ardullie Roundabout (Cromarty Bridge) to the Mineral Bridge just outside Dingwall.

Flooding blocked the Highland Mainline near Kingussie earlier this morning.

Network Rail Scotland and ScotRail confirmed shortly before 8am that the key line linking Inverness to the central belt had been blocked by rising water.

There have also been warnings of possible cancellations or disruption at short notice on the Far North and Kyle lines.

Last month, Storms Isha and Jocelyn brought travel disruption.
