Fans were shocked last week to hear of the sudden death of Kevin McLoughlin, whose cheery studio personality had delighted them for several years.

Fellow Speysound volunteer Pete Carson said: “We were so shocked and deeply saddened to receive the news that presenter Kevin had passed away.

“Kev brought his ‘Kev’s Alternative R & B Show’ to us in late 2019.

“His chirpy, warm enthusiasm has been felt across the station ever since.”

With the kind permission of Kevin's family, the station aired his last recorded show in tribute to him on Thursday from 10-11pm.

The show is set to be repeated on Saturday at 4pm.

"Kevin’s musical knowledge and passion for broadcasting came across on every show he did," said station chairman Pete Wright.

"He was also one to tell a great story and he loved sharing his time broadcasting on the radio.

He will be missed by friends, family, colleagues and fans of community radio.”

Mr McLoughlin (68) died on Friday, September 22 peacefully at his home in Inverness.

A company director, he had worked as a financial advisor and DJ on both Speysound Radio and Hospital Radio.

Loving husband to Jackie, his childhood sweetheart, he was the adored dad of Sean, Mairead, beloved grandad of Jessica and Ava, brother of Eileen and Michael, father-in-law of Jillian and Martin, brother-in-law and friend to many.

For those unable to attend, the service will be streamed live from https://williamtfraserandson.co.uk/live-stream/
