A GRIEVING mother will hand more than £300 to a cystic fibrosis (CF) charity from funds raised at her daughter’s funeral.

Rena Munro has tallied up the takings from Jade’s service at John Fraser & Son funeral directors in Inverness.

The 23-year-old IT tutor, who died at home in Inverness on April 21 after losing her battle with the condition, wanted a collection to be made at her funeral service for the Stornoway-based Leanne Fund, which supports people with CF.

Jade wanted the donations split with her former workplace, the Meeting Place in Culloden, which supports adults with additional support needs. Her family carried out her final wishes and the funeral collection fund totalled £666.88.

Mrs Munro (62), who lives in King Duncan’s Road, said she was grateful to everyone who made a contribution.

The Leanne Fund was set up by Christetta Mitchell following the loss of her daughter Leanne to CF.

Mrs Mitchell said: “We were saddened to hear of Jade’s passing and express our condolences to her family.

“We are extremely grateful to the family for donating to the fund and helping us to support others affected by cystic fibrosis.”
