Campaigners seeking to transform a large field on the outskirts of Inverness into a community 'green hub' are holding a fundraising ceilidh this weekend.

Knocknagael Ltd wants to take over the Smiddy Field at Holm from the Scottish Government and have detailed plans to create recreational space, allotments, an orchard and other green areas for local people to enjoy.

Their request for an asset transfer of the field was refused last year but that decision is now under review, with a site visit and hearing expected to take place in March.

The Knocknagael Social Gathering and Fundraising Ceilidh takes place at St Mary's Church on Huntly Street, Inverness on Saturday, February 4, from 6.30pm-10pm.

It will include music from Blackrock Ceilidh and there will be a raffle at the bring-your-own drinks event.

Tickets cost £10 per person, over 16s £5 and kids are free. To book, email ronaldmacvicar@gmail.com or kaykelly@doctors.org.uk. Remaining tickets will be available on the door.
