A fundraising fun run was held in Inverness in aid of Highland Hospice.

It was organised by Lara Bowen who is supporting Strictly Inverness competitor Lynda Brooman who is taking part this year together with dance partner Neil Alexander.

The 10km run began at the hospice building by the River Ness, passed Inverness Ice Centre and finished at the archive centre.

Mrs Brooman, who is a 55-year-old NHS worker at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, said she had already done a couple of fundraising events and this was for runners of all capabilities.

She said there were 37 participants, adding: “Every single one of them was a member of jogscotland.”

She has raised at least £4500 so far, with the fun run adding a total of £606.

“We know that times are hard but people are willing to help when we are not asking the earth,” she said.

Mrs Brooman, who lives in Inverness with her husband 51-year-old Graham, is taking part in the competition because she wanted to support the hospice and, at the same time, get the privilege of learning to dance and being taught by amazing tutors.

She added: “I never do anything by halves and I always fully commit to anything I set my mind to.”
