Police are appealing for information following a serious crash on the A96 near Nairn.

At around 11.10pm last night, an 18-year-old man was driving a black Ford Fiesta car on the B9092 at the junction with the A96, when the vehicle was involved in a crash with a blue Fiat Ducato campervan that was being driven on the A96 by a 72-year-old man.

The teenager and an 18-year-old male passenger in his car were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where they received treatment. Hospital staff described their condition as stable.

Two female passengers in the Ford Fiesta – aged 17 and 18 – were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The driver and front seat passenger of the Fiat Ducato campervan were uninjured.

However, the 72-year-old female rear-seat passenger was taken to Raigmore Hospital, where her condition is described as stable.

Sergeant Alasdair MacKay said: "Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.

"Although the crash took place late at night, I would ask any witnesses, or anyone with information that will assist our ongoing investigation to contact us.

"I would also ask anyone driving on that road around the time of the crash with dash-cam footage to get in touch."
