A special black tie charity event is to be held at Fort George next month in memory of a “much missed” Highland girl.

The Princess Ball will take place on Saturday October 29 in the historic fort’s mess where an evening of dinner dancing will be held in aid of Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

The event has been organised by Fort George Hotel services manager, Adele Wright in loving memory of her niece who sadly passed away aged just 12 in 2018.

Kamryn Mitchell was born on Valentine’s Day in 2006 at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and was diagnosed with a condition called Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).

This occurs when the brain doesn't receive enough oxygen or blood flow for a period of time.

During her short life Kamryn and her family were supported by CHAS and enjoyed regular respite visits to Rachel House children’s hospice in Kinross.

Kamryn’s mum Trisha Mitchell, said: “Kamryn was the most special girl who is missed so much by all her family.

"She absolutely loved going to Rachel House as she was made to feel really special there.

"She enjoyed the swimming pool, getting a massage, the sensory room, the beautiful gardens and visits from the clown doctors.

“Rachel House was also where Kamryn was taken after she sadly passed away just after her 12th birthday and our family were able to stay there with her right up until the day of her funeral which meant so much."

Organiser Adele said: “CHAS will always hold a special place in my family’s hearts so we’re thrilled to have been granted special permission to host this event in the wonderful setting of Fort George to help raise funds to enable the charity to support more children like Kamryn.”

Tickets to the Princess Ball cost £85.00 per person which includes champagne, canapes, a three course gourmet meal with wine and entertainment from popular band, The Hustle.

There will also be the chance to win some exclusive prizes in a raffle.
