A serving soldier has been ordered to stay away from his wife following a domestic assault.

Leroy Aurelien (36) got into a physical row with his partner of nine years after she took an extra shift at work when he had already made plans, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

Fiscal depute David Morton said: "This incident occurred when the relationship was coming to an end between parties.

"Mrs Aurelien had taken an extra shift at work which caused a disagreement.

"During the course of the argument Mr Aurelien has taken possession of her mobile phone."

The court was told that Aurelien, who is based at Fort George, also threw a tablet device on the floor causing it to break before pushing his wife on the body causing her to fall over.

Part of the disturbance was heard by their son and the police were called to attend.

Aurelien admitted the assault and threatening and abusive behaviour by acting in an aggressive manner on April 9 last year at Wibermley Way, Inverness.

Sheriff Sara Matheson imposed a £450 fine and a £20 victim surcharge as well as a 12 month non-harassment order.
