Former councillor John Holden has died aged 74.

A former Highland councillor has died at the age of 74.

John Holden died at his home in Teal Avenue, Inverness.

He formerly represented Inverness South for Labour from 2007 to 2011.

He resigned his membership after being jailed for a year in August 2011.

During the trial, a bundle of letters from supporters was presented highlighting good work he had done for the community over the years.

He leaves a daughter, Sarah, and two grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Monday November 14 at 11.30am in the funeral home of William T Fraser and Son, Culduthel Road, Inverness. It will also be streamed live.

Donations in his memory for Alzheimer Scotland can be given at the service or online.
